The use of multiple layer paper cuts allows delicate shadows to evolve. I am fascinated how the adaptation of light can change the whole atmosphere of the image. I tend to work primarily in white, introducing isolated bursts of colour, as I like the clean crisp lines it creates.
The subject of my work varies greatly dependent on what inspires me. My passion for traveling, exploring new cultures and architecture is often the trigger for new projects.
I have always been attracted to intricate things; I feel that delicate detail gives off a precious essence, therefore, when Su Blackwell attended as a visiting lecturer at my University, she inspired me to pick up the knife and start cutting.
I love how my work has been described as both beautiful and bonkers in the same sentence. I am often asked how I find the patience to create my paper cuts. My work is my escape. When I set on a working adventure, I can spend hours drifting off into a daydream where I am able to shut out the outside world and dream up my next concept and design.
